US & South Korean Troops Conduct Live-Fire Drills

Turning to Korean Peninsula where United Nations Representative, Elizabeth Salmón and South Korean Foreign Minister, Park Jin Met at The Foreign Ministry Building. 

The newly appointed UN special rapporteur for human rights in North Korea held talks with South Korea's top diplomat in Seoul on Wednesday. 

Salmón has been visiting South Korea since last week, and has held talks with various groups of Korean war victims and NGOs. She also visited the joint security area and the south Korean facility training North Korean defectors.  She will wrap up her visit with a news conference on Friday.

At the same time, South Korea and United States held live-fire exercises near the border with North Korea, as part of annual combined military training, Ulchi Freedom Shield exercises.

The allies conducted live-fire drills in Pocheon, involving battle tanks, helicopters, and mortars, along with hundreds of troops from US army and air force, and the South Korean Army.

While, in South Korea's Eastern City, Gangneung, US and South Korean troops participated in live-fire drills of multiple launch rocket system.
