Indonesia's Mount Semeru Erupts, Quake Cause People Panic

A magnitude 6,2 earthquake hit Indonesia's East Java particularly Jember regency and surroundings on Tuesday afternoon causing panic among people as in nearby volcano mount Semeru continues spewing hot ashes since Sunday.
People who are residing in Lumajang regency in the slope of mount Semeru rushed out of their homes when the tremor occurred. The center of the earthquake was at the Indian ocean 10 kilometers depth.
According to local residents in Lumajang, the tremor was felt for about five seconds, and people who were still on alert due to the eruption of mount Semeru become panic.
Indonesia's national disaster mitigation agency said the earthquake was felt not only in Jember regency but also in Pacitan and Trenggalek regencies. No casualties and damages have yet reported due to the tremor.
